Gen-Z Perspectives Panel & Campaign Launch
Yesterday's first session was all about youth empowerment. A group of youth from the organization Girls Make Beats helped us start our day in the best way with lively music that they wrote and produced. The session also featured the National Youth Poet Laureate Salome Agbaroji who shared an inspiring poem on mental health and a panel of inspiring youth who discussed a variety of important topics from inclusiveness to career readiness. We wrapped up the morning with a presentation of the Gold Biggie Awards and the exciting unveiling of the National Campaign that is set to launch in September!
Super Sessions
This year, we introduced Super Sessions to the conference for the first time. Super sessions cover a range of important topics that are delivered by impressive thought leaders and authors. Yesterday's Super Sessions included topics such as Listening as a Superpower and National Brand Campaign: How to Activate in Your Community.
Alumni Hall of Fame
Later in the day, we honored a group of exceptional individuals, Bill Plaschke, Peggy Lewis, Rachaad White, John Waller, Ryan Detert, Reette Thorns, Nancy Lieberman, and Stephen Hill, as they were inducted into the BBBSA Alumni Hall of Fame. Hosted by Emmy Award-winning TV Host and Producer Jeannie Mai Jenkins, this special event also featured a powerful and heartfelt performance by Singer-Songwriter and Activist, Aloe Blacc, who wrote a song dedicated to BBBS called "Never Let You Down". To conclude the evening, we continued the celebration with the Alumni Hall of Fame reception and after-party, which was a great opportunity to network and spend a memorable time together!
