Campaign Funding Goal: $1,200
Our youth need your support! Camp Living Waters provides youth a week-long camp in a loving, accepting, structured and fun Episcopal community. Activities include crafts, swimming, outdoor games, Bible study, worship, free time, and campfire. Children of all faiths are welcome with varying abilities aged 9-15, counselors 16-18.
How does the work of Camp Living Waters reflect our mission of "Making disciples, raising saints, and transforming communities for Christ"?
Worship and Bible study are structured around helping kids explore their faith and ask questions. Camp Living Waters is a place where kids have fun and make lifelong friends while building a Christian community where values of love, compassion, charity, tolerance, cooperation and faith are lived. Camp Living Waters seeks to show kids the value of Christian faith and community, and to teach them how to live these values out in the world beyond Camp. The hope is that this will encourage kids to maintain a connection to the Church and follow the path of Christ in their lives.
Many kids don't normally spend much of their time outdoors or away from the internet and/or have difficult home lives. Camp provides an environment that supports their development, both generally and spiritually, and provides them with friendships and connections moving forward.
How would appeal funds impact Camp Living Waters' goals?
Every year, around a third of the youth that apply require "camperships" (scholarships) for Camp to be accessible to their families. Many of the kids are underprivileged, especially in a time when so many are struggling financially. The goal is to not have to turn anyone away for lack of funds. The Camp Living Waters staff is made up almost entirely of volunteers, and work hard to keep costs low. Donations and support from programs like the Bishop's Partnership Appeal allow us to provide Camperships while also continuously improving safety and programing to make Camp more impactful.
How would appeal funds be used?
The funds would be used to provide six camperships (scholarships) to families who cannot otherwise afford the $200 registration fee, including low-income and foster families.
