Lawn aeration is the process of opening holes, tunnels or breaks in the soil to allow air, water and nutrients to pass down to lower areas of the lawn’s root system. Most clay soils need aeration service to relieve soil compaction that has been built up from traffic, mowing or rain/snow fall. When soil compaction is present you will be able to see standing water in spots of the lawn after irrigation or rainfall. You may also see dry spots or browning areas because the water has not penetrated the soil surface and was mostly evaporated into the air.
After a lawn aeration service is completed your soil will have holes, plugs or breaks in the soil to allow water, air and nutrients to travel deeper into the soil and deeper into the lawns root system.
