Parent Volunteers
Parent help has been vital to the success of SCLA athletics. Parents are needed for selling tickets and working in the concessions stand at high school home sports events. In order to fairly disperse this workload, parents who have a student participating on a high school team are required to work either 1 shift (fall/spring) or 2 shifts (winter) during each season that their child participates in a sport (excludes the 5K, Festival of Seasons, and SCLA Wrestling Invitational). If you are unable to volunteer, there is an opt-out option for a fee of $100 per family per season. Parents will choose to volunteer or opt out during online sports registration. A volunteer sign-up link will be sent at the beginning of each season.
Baseline Concussion Test
A baseline concussion test (ImPACT test) is a simple, cognitive computer test that is used to establish a person's baseline or normal brain function. The test measures verbal and visual memory, processing speed, and reaction time. In the event of a concussion, the test is repeated, the results are compared, and appropriate care plans are developed by a physician for your student's safe return to sports.

As part of SCLA's overall concussion management plan, students in grades 6-12 who participate in a contact or limited contact sport listed below are required to complete a baseline concussion test every two years. Athletes who participate in a non-contact sport do not require testing. Testing for fall sports will be held at SCLA the week of August 21 during practices and again before the winter and spring sports seasons.

Contact Sports (MSHSL classification): Basketball, Cheerleading, Football, Hockey, Lacrosse, Soccer, Wrestling

Limited Contact Sports: Baseball, Field Events (High Jump & Pole Vault), Softball, Volleyball

Non-Contact Sports: Bowling, Cross Country, Dance, Field Events (Discus & Shot Put), Golf, Tennis, Track
