Review your current team of sales persons.
Remember to check your salespersons list and to remove outliers with the DMV. To remove a salesperson from your dealer license, submit form OL 16A to the DMV’s Occupational Licensing department. As California DMV Occupational Licensing points out, “Any individual involved in the selling of vehicles, executing of vehicle contracts or supervising salespersons engaging in these sales activities must be licensed as a salesperson by the DMV.”
Annual BPA training checklist.
For BPA-approved (Business Partner Automation) users, ask your Account Executive about reviewing your annual BPA training checklist. Our team will review important topics regarding compliance and title and registration, including:
- Security
- Transaction Process Procedures
- Inventory Management (including license plates, stickers, and ROSs)
Second-Line grace period buyout discontinuation.
The 30-day grace period for a Second-Line Business Partner (that’s you, the dealership) to continue processing while a new Second-Line is in transmission to move to the same location will discontinue. There are no regulatory or contractual permissions to grant a grace period.
- When a Second-Line is bought out, the Business Partner Automation Program Application for Changes form (REG 4026) must be submitted to close the location. Any transactions that have not been finalized and cleaned prior to the closure should be submitted to the current First-Line Service Provider for final processing.
BPA eFile hours.
BPA allows for eFile transactions to be processed during the following hours:
- Monday through Saturday: 6am to 10pm
- Sunday: 12pm to 6pm

We know you’d like to lessen any confusion or delays in processing Title and Registration at the state, so please remember that any correction documents that are mailed to a Vitu Hub MUST be put in a separate package from the transaction deals pending to be audited. It is also very important to include a copy of the cover sheet with the correction documents, and to mail them to the appropriate Vitu Hub — the same destination where you sent your original paperwork.
Be sure to address it to:
Vitu Interstate ATTN: Corrections
Following this process ensures that the proper correction document is attached to the appropriate transaction deal and is received in a timely manner. If you have any questions regarding where to send correction documents to, please feel free to reach out to us using the Communications Tab.

While you’re using Vitu, you may have some common questions. Below are some frequently asked questions and some answers that might help.
Why is my deal inactive?
The transaction may have gone beyond 60 days if it’s in an error status or 90 days if in other statuses. To move forward with the process, the transaction must be resubmitted.
I made an error on the VIN/make/model/titling-state — how can I fix that issue?
Please proceed to recreate the deal.
My transaction is completed but I need to fix the lienholder because it's wrong or update an address — how to proceed?
Vitu Interstate offers Interstate Manual Services for this correction, so please get in touch with Vitu Interstate for further guidance.
The pre-audit team has approved my pre-audits, but I cannot locate a generated shipping label.
Once the pre-audit is complete and the monitoring agent notifies that the deal is ready to be sent to service, click the Send to State button to generate a shipping label.
Can I apply for a duplicate title?
Yes, please contact support for further information and guidance on how to apply.
Still have questions?

Did you know lienholder codes and addresses vary from state to state? As such, it is best to always contact the lienholder, ask them for the registering state code and verify the address. For the states with lienholder codes listed on their websites, the lienholder name, address, and lienholder code must match what is on the state website exactly. If the registering state has a website with lien codes, we provide a Lienholder information page in the merged document explaining to reference the state website (example below). Again, we just always ask you verify it is correct.

California penalties are significant and can be in excess of 40% of the amount of the fees due to the state — even for being just one day late. WE CAN HELP!
One way to reduce and sometimes avoid penalties entirely is to “post fees” within 20 days of the date of sale of the vehicle being registered/transferred. “Posting fees” is the process of remitting estimated license and registration fees to the DMV before submitting the documentation necessary to finalize the registration and/or transfer of ownership. For more information please see our Posting CA Fees guide.

Vitu offers a temp tag service in select states, which can be invaluable while you wait for your customers' vehicle registration to process.
For a list of participating states, fees, instructions and other useful information regarding temp tags, please take a look at the helpful guide linked below.
