2023 Fly Fishing Schools

We are exited to announce our schedule for this year's Fly Fishing Schools!

Schools are a great opportunity to learn more about fishing here on the Pere Marquette River, get some time on the water with one of our excellent Orvis-endorsed guides, and make connections with other fishy folks.

Schools will take place on the following weekends:

February 17-19: Steelhead

March 3-5: Steelhead

April 21-23: Steelhead

May 26-28: Streamer

June 23-25: Hex/Mousing

July 21-23: Mousing

August 11-13: Terrestrial

September 1-3: Salmon

October 20-22: Steelhead

November 3-5: Steelhead

December 1-3: Steelhead

School Schedule

Friday:

6:00 pm –7:00 pm - Meet and greet at the lodge and Q&A with Guide

Saturday:

9:00 am – power point presentation on trout and steelhead and rod rigging
10:00 am – on the water learning casting technique and how to read the water
1:30 pm – lunch at the lodge
2:00 – 3:30 pm – fly basics, knot tying and classroom instruction
3:30 pm – class ends and a good time to hit the river to try out what you’ve learned

Sunday:

8:00 am Breakfast
9:00 am 1:00 pm – half day guide trip

*Itinerary subject to change for night time classes (Hex and Mousing)

*Schools must have a minimum of two participants, otherwise the school will be canceled.
