I need your help supporting my community service.
Money can be a taboo subject for those of us who give back to our communities. It seems tacky to be asking for it - after all, aren't we volunteers for the greater good? But it often takes money to keep doing what we love to do and to improve the world around us. In addition to being a writer, I am an artist. It's important to me that I support other artists, which is part of why I write GISH PICKS. A portion of all money I make is given back to creative communities I care about.
Today -- the day of love! -- I'm asking for your financial help to support my blog,
an important *free* service
for the greater Houston community.
I have been producing my GISH PICKS: CURATED CULTURE FOR KIDS & ADULTS blog since 2004. Each week, I scour high and low to bring you information on the most unique and interesting activities for adults and families. Over the past 2 decades I have become known as a champion of Houston arts & culture.
It takes me at least 4 hours to write each edition. Not only do I PICK the events and research them, I also write, design, edit, market, and publish it. In order to offset costs to produce this, I need to ask for your help, which I do once a year only. I hope this won't cause you to unsubscribe and I also hope this won't offend you. Instead, I am hoping that you'll simply feel moved to help (keep reading -- money isn't the only way!).
