Hello Community Partners,

We are kicking off our HMIS Annual Privacy and Security Audit next week. The audit is part of the requirements we have based on HUD standards and the agreements of the Sacramento Continuum of Care (CoC). Our partner agencies are responsible for the security of client information by protecting the client data from things like:

• Viruses and other malware
• Data hacks and other intrusions
• Unauthorized access to physical or electronic client data

To ensure that each partner agency is meeting the Privacy and Security requirements detailed in the HUD HMIS Data and Technical Standards and the Sacramento CoC HMIS Privacy & Security Plan, they are required to conduct a thorough review of internal policies and procedures semiannually.

To assist with this audit we have created a checklist of all the needed information. Please use this tool to begin reviewing your organization's compliance. We will send out another email with the actual Security Audit link next week. Additionally, we are holding two Security Audit Troubleshooting workshops this month (links at the bottom of this email).
