HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Welcome to 2023 and all of the possibilities a new year brings. There are so many great things to be proud of that took place in 2022. Before we race forward into 2023, I want to take a moment to reflect on some of the agency’s 2022 highlights:

  • Celebrated our 50th Anniversary of serving youth and their families in the Central Carolinas
  • Achieved national Gold Standard status as an agency (12 out of 250 agencies qualified)
  • Moved into our new office location (for staff and those we serve) on McAlpine Park Drive
  • Hosted BIG events that supported our mentee's future: 2022 Vulcan Quarry Crusher Run, Annual William Byron Golf Tournament, Big Day at the Lake, and the Big Toast in Cabarrus County.
  • Selected by MacKenzie Scott Foundation (1 of 38 agencies out of 250 nationally chosen) to receive our largest gift in our agency’s history.

There were so many more accomplishments that took place in 2022 both big and small; individual and collective. We are so grateful that we were able to continue to bring the gift of mentoring to 274 children for the first time, and serve 954 youth in our community. So, what will 2023 bring? The possibilities are endless!

2023 JANUARY EVENTS

It's National Mentoring Month, and we want to celebrate our Bigs! Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolina's will host a special appreciation event for our Bigs real soon! Stay tuned for more information!

MEET MICHELLE AND FEIDY
Meet Big Sister Michelle, from the Beyond School Walls program in partnership with Ally and Eastway Middle School. Michelle has been a volunteer in the Beyond School Walls program since 2015. Talk about commitment!! Michelle enjoys the Beyond School Walls program because it’s a convenient way for volunteers to make an impact on a child’s life forever. She has helped change the lives of over four Littles and is excited to start the journey with her new Little, Feidy.

BEYOND SCHOOL WALLS
Our corporate partners from the Rocket Community Fund (from Detroit, IL), took a trip to our Beyond School Walls program with Littles from McClintock Middle School! Alyssa (left) and Bryan (right) were able to "fill in" as Bigs for a day, and participate in Match activities! Activities included a conversation on "Coping with Stress," and meditation.
LET'S CELEBRATE!

The Beyond School Walls program with Ally and Eastway Middle celebrated the holidays with a fun party! The event was extra special because our matches met in-person at Ally for the very first time. Our Bigs and Littles enjoyed the party’s festivities, and look forward to more meetings at Ally’s new state of the art facility.
