North Charleston, SC........July 25, 2023......In a repeat of the 2022 Majors World Series, North Charleston, South Carolina (5-0) defeated Southland, Louisiana to capture the 2023 Majors World Series. The title for North Charleston, SC is their eleventh in the DBB Majors division, which began play in 1974. The squad from North Charleston swept the 2023 edition of the tournament, winning their games by an average margin of six runs, in a dominating performance. North Charleston totaled 42 runs in the five games played, while pitching and playing solid defense for a total of only ten runs allowed. Southland, Louisiana lost their first game of the tournament to Columbia County, Georgia by a score of 3-1. Following the loss, the Southland team rebounded to win four in a row, including a 13-1 win over Columbia County, Georgia on championship day. Southland, LA (4-2), the tournament finalist, displayed strong pitching and solid defense in giving up a total of twelve runs overall. Hernando County, Florida (3-2) had a good tournament run and was awarded the “Bryant Watson Sportsmanship Award.”
