Designed to be representative at both the state and national level, the 2023 NSCH has data from 55,162 children ages 0-17 years on topics such as physical, mental and emotional health, health care access and quality, community and school activities, and family health and well-being. Be sure to explore the new Whole Child Risk Index, a validated measure associated with important outcomes such as child flourishing, educational preparedness as well as emergency care utilization and forgone care.
The DRC also has additional NSCH information and resources including: codebooks, resources, fast facts, guides to topics and questions and guides to changes across survey years, links to survey instruments, and more! There are also numerous resources available at HRSA MCHB’s webpage on the NSCH, including the NSCH Data Briefs. NSCH public use data files can be found on the U.S. Census Bureau’s NSCH page.
Downloadable DRC datasets for the 2023 NSCH will be available in May. Be on the lookout for the Across-State Comparison Tables and Across-State Comparison U.S. Maps with National Performance Measures, National Outcome Measures, and Standardized Measures - coming soon in May.
