The Ohio Department of Health has released its abortion death report for 2023, and the news is all bad.

22,000 babies were were slaughtered in the womb last year. This represents a 19% increase from 2022. Once again, Cuyahoga County led the way with 29.9% of all abortions in Ohio. Cuyahoga and Summit Counties accounted for 45.1% of all abortions in the state. A whopping 77.8% of the women who had abortions in 2023 were never married.

More sad news from the report is the shocking number of black babies who died from abortion: 49.8% of all babies aborted were black, even though the black population only comprises about 13% of the total population in Ohio. It is no coincidence that the profit-driven abortion industry strategically locates the majority of abortion mills within walking distance of minority neighborhoods.

Late-term abortion does occur: 475 babies who were 19 weeks gestation and over suffered a painful and gruesome death at the hands of these abortionists last year in Ohio. These particularly barbaric surgical techniques involve crushing, dismemberment and removal of a the baby's body from the womb, mere weeks before, or even after, the fetus reaches a developmental age of potential viability outside the mother.

"We are witnessing the sickening consequences of enshrining abortion into our state constitution," said Kate Makra, Executive Director of Cleveland Right to Life. "Abortion clinics all over Ohio have rolled out the welcome mat to vulnerable women, and more innocent babies are being butchered daily as a result. I fear the numbers will only continue to increase if we do not start redoubling our efforts to change people's hearts and minds about the issue of abortion. We must have the courage to talk about this difficult topic, and that includes our church leaders."
