Greg's 20th Annual Shameless & Indiscriminate Solicitation for a Worthy Cause

Video: Greg explains why we ride this year

If you have never received one of these from me before, your email address must have just fallen into my (or my company's) address book/database within the past year. Since 2003, I have ridden my bike long distances in support of the National MS Society or Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and I shamelessly and indiscriminately solicited donations from anyone whose email address I possessed.

So you haven't been singled-out. You are one of thousands. Please don't be offended or feel pressured.  Delete at will....or (please) read on.

This weekend I will ride 192 miles in my 15th Pan Mass Challenge in support of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Why do I still do this? Because cancer is still a thing. I ride to honor my dad and friends who didn't beat cancer. I ride to honor survivors like my mom and my 32 year-old niece and godchild, Kaitlyn...and to make sure they keep beating it.

I ride because nearly every year, there's someone I didn't expect to get cancer that does. 14 months ago, my father-in-law was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is still in treatment. Each of the past two years, a member of my PMC team has been diagnosed with cancer. But survival rates keep increasing thanks to research funded by the PMC...through donations from people like you.

If you are going to pledge, the easiest way is to CLICK HERE and do it on-line NOW... (there's even a Venmo link)

OUR LONG-TIME PEDAL PARTNER: TOMMY JOFFRION

It is hard to imagine, but Tommy has been our team's Pedal Partner since 2009 and still he continues his fight. Tommy was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis (NF) in 2006, and in 2010, was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia or CML and a resulting pediatric brain tumor called PGLA. As his mom Maria once posted, "...chemo # I don't know, I lost count a long time ago, here we go."

The picture above is from our visit to the Joffrion's during our 2020 "Reimagined PMC". We got to meet Tommy's chickens!

You can check out Tommy's Facebook page here: Tommy beats NF & CML

AND OUR 7-YEAR PEDAL PARTNER: GRANT WEIDMAN

Grant is a vibrant 12 year old from Boxborough who has finished his treatment for T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and continues to go to the Jimmy Fund for periodic follow ups. Grant's dad, Bill, is riding with Team Crank for his 7th year as well!

All of us have been affected by cancer through a friend or family member if not personally. My father died in 1997 from melanoma that spread to his lungs, brain, and liver.  My mom fought cancer for 10 years My niece Kaitlyn is already a cancer survivor at 33. My father-in-law is currently undergoing chemo treatments for pancreatic cancer. Fortunately or unfortunately, when one donates to support cancer research, that person can almost be guaranteed a personal return on their investment.

Sincerely, Greg Antonioli
