2023 Revisited

This past year brought brilliant art from all of our artists beginning in January with our Artist in residency,

Reese Johanson performing contemporary dance in Evolve....

February celebrated Black History Month and Tony Savoie's new fiberglass & resin illuminated paintings creating the illusion of

viewing the earth from a drone...

In March we had the good fortune

to march with Big Chief Shaka Zulu

and the Golden Feather Hunters on Carnival Day.

April and May began the festival season with

and an outstanding body of 40 Peter Max paintings.

July we celebrated the Essence festival with

a visit from performance artist Tajah Olson...

August I was in Africa and Dirty Linen rolled on Royal Street.

In the fall we began a series of salons...

Andy Baird, speaking about color, tonality, perspective and lighting.

Jacobo Roa, fascinating explorations of Mexican cultural influences.

Michelle Gagliano spoke of method and shared

Raphael's recipes for making paint.

December unveiled 16 amazing graphite drawings by

Raymond Douillet.

What a year, life is good....

Please take a look back at some of the exhibitions, conversations and gatherings at AKG....

with gratitude for all of the artists and art lovers...
