10 Mile Widening and Rehabilitation
The Road Commission of Oakland County began the final two stages this week to reconstruct and widen 10 Mile Road between Meadowbrook and Haggerty Roads. As a result, 10 Mile Road will be one-way eastbound only traffic for the duration of the project -- mid-August, which is months ahead of what was anticipated!
While we at the City and many residents may have liked two-way traffic for another few weeks, we can all agree the earlier this project is completed, the better.
As a reminder, access to businesses along 10 Mile will be maintained throughout the project. Be sure to stop by and show your support! To see the easiest way to get to businesses on 10 Mile from Haggerty during construction, please use these alternate routes to support them.
Novi Road Rehabilitation
Novi Road is currently closed between Nine Mile and 10 Mile Road as the Road Commission of Oakland County replaces large culverts under Novi Road. RCOC anticipates being finished with this work by the end of the month.
After this work is finished, RCOC's contractor will begin the road rehabilitation work and shift traffic on Novi Road between Nine Mile and 10 Mile Road to southbound-only traffic until this fall.
2023 Simple Asphalt Resurfacing of 8 Mile Road
The Road Commission of Oakland County has begun roadwork on Eight Mile Road between Napier and Taft as part of their Preservation Overlay Program. There are no detours necessary for this work. Traffic flow during construction will be under flag control.
As a reminder, Eight Mile Road between Center Street and Haggerty Road is under the jurisdiction of the Wayne County Road Division. After repeated attempts by the Mayor and Council, City administration and a County Commissioner, Wayne County responded to our inquiries, stating that there is currently no scheduled project on Eight Mile Road from Meadowbrook to Novi Road except the Bridge deck replacement.
Please know the City will continue to advocate for repairs on behalf of our Novi. If you would like to reach out and share your thoughts, you can do so here.
