Tourism week every week!

We were excited to participate in Alberta Tourism week and throughout the season hosting leaders of Travel Alberta and Fort McMurray Economic Development, showcasing what we have to offer in our corner of the province.

Camp upgrades

We are always busy working on improving our facilities and this year we started some new projects. With our remote locations it is always a challenge to get equipment and supplies and we are always planning for future years.

Let the Sun Shine!

We began adding solar & battery systems to help reduce the diesel and gasoline generator use. These will be at all of our lake locations. Our 60 degree north latitude offers an incredible amount of sun in the summer and at Lynx Lake 62.5 N, even more. We will be scaling up the installations throughout the year.

Aiming for more efficient operations, saving money and time. It's amazing the logistics involved in purchasing fuel in town and flying in barrels and moving them and pumping out to the storage and transfer tanks.

We also added some new wood burning stoves and pipes to the cabins at Andrew Lake. These heavy duty units warm up the cabins in no time and offer warming surface for the coffee pot as well as a side mounted hot water tank.

Surfs Up!

By request there will be Stand up paddle boards at Andrew Lake. Try these around the dock or take them out to the big beach or the sand point on the hot summer days.

Guests have enjoyed our satellite internet wifi service at Andrew Lake and in 2023 it will be enhanced with a new SpaceX Starlink system. This is incredible technology with high speed internet and is portable. We can move it to our other lakes as required and it can be set up in 5 minutes

Dan has been following the development of this system over the last several years and has even attended a SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket launch carrying the satellites that will help connect us to the internet. These are very exciting times. Hard to believe that not many years back we didn't have any communication at the camps.

Welcome Back to the Tundra!

After being closed for visitors for 2 years due to NWT travel health closures, we were thrilled to reopen our most northern location at Lynx lake. Once ice broke up around usual late June, we made up for lost time with a busy season. It began with awesome fishing as some of our longest returning guests made their return.

We also hosted videographers and photographers, eager to capture the essence of the barren lands, wildlife and aurora. Working with our charter service Reliance Airways and canoeing & hunting groups rounded out our fall season. New hunting opportunities in NWT for muskox have been realized as the numbers of animals have been increasing

The A in A-Frame is for Aurora!

Take in the lake view and aurora with the comfort of a wood-burning stove. A-Frame cabin is the ideal location for aurora viewing and photography. The A-Frame can accomodate up to 16 people which makes it the perfect setting for groups, workshops, and events.

We rebuilt our dock and in addition the floating section, we added a large fixed platform that is perfect for setting up camera equipment to get stellar shots. Camping out here and resting on the famous Red Bench, you’ll be sure not to miss any action. We are booking Aurora Viewing trips August 15 - October 1.
