Summer Camp 2023 March Newsletter

Dear unit leaders and summer camp coordinators,

My best intentions of getting this note out to you by March 1st went unfulfilled. Our camp program team has updated the camp's master schedule and the Merit Badge information sheet. Both files can be accessed HERE. Some things to note:

  • Both files are Google sheets and be will updated as new information becomes available. The most recent date will always be in the top left corner cell of each spreadsheet.
  • The master schedule sheet has three different tabs. Be sure to check all three.
  • Our program director is still verifying requirements not covered at camp with a few area directors. Those fields still under review are shaded yellow.
  • A common question we receive is in regard to the "Age Recommendation column." These are guidelines for a unit leader to use in consultation with a scout. The only strictly observed limits are when the word "Must..." appears.
  • Any badge with a session limit will be classified as a Lottery Merit Badge. The lottery system is discussed on page 29 of the Leader's Guide.

The team is in the process of creating a sheet specifically for the First-year "Dan Beard" camper program. It should be published shortly. For any program questions, feel free to reach out to Quinn at [email protected].

Our 2023 fee schedule is available HERE. We are currently in the window for the Tier 2 discounted rate of $525 through April 30th. After this date, the camp regular rate is $550. The AOL-crossover rate of $495 is valid through May 31st. A few questions that have come up:

  • We do not take credit cards for camp fees. However, we can send you an invoice with a payment link to directly pay from your bank account. There is a 1% fee capped at $10. Reach out to Michelle for an invoice.
  • In order for a Scout to take advantage of the discounted tier, they must pay the full amount. We do not take deposits per Scout.
  • In the calculated field for adults, do not enter any count for free adults. Only list the number of adults you are paying for in this transmittal. The number of youth and adults you anticipate bringing to camp should be listed in the estimate section above.
  • Please indicate on the payment roster (last page of the transmittal) who the siblings are -- particularly if it's not obvious, ie different last names or girl troop-boy troop siblings.

If you have any questions about the payment process, please reach out to Michelle Cathers via email or call 215-348-7205 x305.

Through the contributions of generous donors, the Council is able to offer a limited number of camperships which can cover up to 50% of the camp fees. The campership application is available HERE. The deadline for application is April 1. The campership committee meets shortly thereafter to determine award amounts.

Save the date for our online, virtual leaders meeting on Saturday, May 6th. We’ll go over the most up to date program, food service information, how to sign up for Merit Badges and campsite requests. An invitation to register for the event will go out in April.

As always, feel free to reach out to me with any questions via email or 215-348-7205 x318.

With regards,

Todd Warner
