Hoosier Tax Changes

The Statehouse has started the new year with a series of changes to the state’s tax code. This includes the elimination of the $3,000 mortgage deduction and an increase in the property tax homestead deduction, as well as changes to tax deductions for senior citizens and the flat individual income tax rate. Additionally, Indiana will be phasing out the add-back of the federal income tax deduction for wagering taxes.

Legislative Update: 1,162 Bills Filed After Week Two

Week two wrapped up at the statehouse last week. 1,162 bills have been released (over 400 last week alone). The powerful House Ways and Means Committee heard from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
