Dear SCMS Members,

We look forward to welcoming you all to the inaugural SCMS Virtual Symposium, December 1-2, 2023. The Virtual Symposium will consist of SIG and Caucus meetings, Committee Meetings, the Institutional Chairs Meeting, Members Business Meeting, Seminars, and other organizational/professional meetings. The Virtual Symposium aims to foster scholarly discourse, facilitate the exchange of knowledge, and promote collaboration within the field of cinema and media studies.

You can access the Virtual Symposium schedule by clicking here. The symposium will be hosted on the Zoom Events platform. The meetings will operate like the Zoom platform you're familiar with creating a user-friendly experience. Invitations granting access will be sent on November 30, along with a user guide. All times in US Central Time unless otherwise noted.

All current SCMS members will be granted access to the Virtual Symposium. There is no additional registration for this event; your membership dues allow you to attend all meetings and to participate in or join the audience for seminars. Anyone who wishes to attend either the virtual symposium or participate in the in-person conference must be a current member. Therefore, please be sure to renew your membership.

Seminars will be held on Saturday, December 2, 9:00 AM US Central Time. Please read more about the available seminar topics on our website. Please note, a limited number of participant positions will be available on Friday, November 24 on our website. Auditor registration is available now.

SCMS includes all virtual symposium seminars in the in-person conference program, where participant and auditor roles in the seminar will be noted. We hope this helps a wider net of members with institutional funding requirements. To be included as an auditor in the printed conference program, please register on our website. Seminar attendees who choose not to register as auditors can simply access the seminar on our Virtual Symposium platform.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to advancing cinema and media studies, and we eagerly anticipate the discussions that lie ahead!
