Happy New Year from ASRC!

We hope you all enjoyed the holiday season as much as we did. We are so ready to kick off the 2023 with some great events and activities. Francesca and Rachel will be announcing all upcoming Social & Recreation activities within the next week. We will be continuing our social skills groups with our very own Sara Taussik. We are also gearing up for our 2023 Walk for Autism being held on May 21st, 2023. Finally, we are pleased to announce a new addition to our monthly newsletter and added support group with The Autism Mom Coach, Lisa Candera. We have so many more things to be excited for in 2023 and we can't wait to get started!

Parent Support Groups

In addition to our new partnership with Lisa Candera, Autism Mom Coach, ASRC runs a support group for parents & caregivers of Adults and support - playgroups for children under 12. New for 2023: The Coaching Corner with Lisa Candera - The Autism Mom Coach

ASRC is happy to announce that it will be partnering with Lisa Candera - The Autism Mom Coach to provide support to our community’s parents.


Who is Lisa?

Lisa is a certified life coach, podcaster, lawyer and, most importantly, full-time single mother to a teenager with Autism and other co-morbid diagnoses. Lisa and her son, Ben, live in Simsbury,

CT. After years of white knuckling it on her own, Lisa created The Autism Mom Coach to support parents in their day to day challenges raising a child with special needs. In her 1:1 coaching

program, Lisa teaches her clients how to manage their minds, regulate their emotions and self-soothe their nervous systems using cognitive behavioral tools, a polyvagal informed approach

and her real-life, in the trenches, experiences as a parent raising a teenager with Autism.

Job Fair for Neurodiverse

When: October 26, 2023 | 1:00-5:00 pm

Where: Quinnipiac University North Haven


Consisting of:

  • Job Fair – wide range of employers (retail to tech and beyond)
  • Pre-Employment Skill Set Development-Presentation(s)
  • Job Search skill development & best practices-presentations

  

Overview:

As a job fair for the neurodiverse, this event is intended to highlight job opportunities, via an in-person format, for neurodiverse individuals seeking employment, and will include sessions on skills needed for success in the pursuit of that goal.


In addition, specialists will provide advice and counsel to individuals that may seek an employment path that is post-college with presentations/workshops.


We will also have a neurodiverse peer panel workshop for Q & A of their experiences and suggestions for success.
