Last evening, Winston's parents had the opportunity to join Kelsey Garrison, Assistant Head of School, and John Weber, Admissions and Special Education Manager, in a parent education seminar focused on enhancing executive function skills--the fundamental habits of mind required for getting organized, staying focused, and controlling impulses and emotion to better support their students. The session proved enlightening as many tools and insights from nationally known expert Peg Dawson were shared.

Executive function skills are vital for academic success and overall well-being, and it's commendable to see parents actively engaging in understanding and fostering these skills in their children. Such initiatives strengthen the parent-school partnership and empower students to thrive in their educational journey. Kudos to all involved for their dedication to enhancing student support and success!

This week marks the exciting kickoff of Winston’s College and Career Readiness students dedicating their time to volunteering at St. Peter's Thrift Store in Del Mar.

As these students engage in meaningful service, they not only contribute to their community but also cultivate essential skills for their future endeavors. Through volunteering, they gain valuable experience in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, all while making a positive impact on those in need.

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with St. Peter's, fostering a collaborative effort to empower our students and the community. Together, we look forward to continuing this enriching journey of giving back and building brighter futures.

Effective February 29, 2024, and under California Department of Health guidelines, our COVID-19 school testing program will end.  Winston has a supply of tests available with extended expiration dates.  However, we can no longer test students once our testing resources are exhausted.  We are grateful for everyone’s support in keeping our school community safe.

As a reminder, COVID-19 guidelines are available here.  You may also order four free at-home testing kits from the federal government through the United States Postal Service.  The link to order is here.

The Winston School's 2023/24 Yearbook is coming in June, filled with snapshots, school highlights, and special dedications to our seniors. If you still need to, please make sure to secure your copy for $40 at the front office. Remember, the price will rise to $50 in May.

Students, let’s finish the marking period strong!  The fourth marking period ends Friday, March 1.  Now is the time to get caught up.
