Election Day, Tuesday, November 5th ~ Please go vote!
Susan Lindgren Families, as we are finishing the first quarter of our school year, I would like to remind you all of two items that are important for all.
Consistent school attendance is so crucial for students to reach their full potential and succeed both socially and academically. We thank you for your cooperation and partnership in making sure your child/children arrive by 7:45 AM.
Cold weather is coming to Minnesota someday soon! Your children will need appropriate winter weather clothing which includes coat, snow pants, boots, hat and mittens/gloves. We will go outside for recess everyday unless the temperature does not allow us to go outside. Please see Cold Weather Procedures below for all SLP Elementary Schools.
We thank you all for your wonderful support and partnership of the Susan Lindgren community, and its 469 amazing students and outstanding school team!
Your Partner in Learning,
Clarence Pollock
Proud Principal

Student Attendance Hours are from 7:45 AM to 2:15 PM.
Consistent patterns and routines help students with their academic success. Attendance everyday and being on time is very important for all students and their learning.
We ask that you try your very best to schedule appointments around the school day as best as you can.
Thank you for your understanding, cooperation and partnership!
| |
Students will always go outside unless the regular temperature is below 0 degrees or the windchill temperature is -10 degrees or below. We will watch the temperature to keep our students safe.
We are always in need of gently used or new winter gear, especially waterproof mittens/gloves.
If you are in need of winter gear, please contact our Social Worker Michelle Bryant at bryant.michelle@slpschools.org

Susan Lindgren Community Highlights
Jennifer Vaillancourt, Literacy JEDI ~ Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
Weekly Quote:
The language, the whole culture of the Lakota, comes from the song of our heartbeat. It’s not something that can quickly be put into words. It’s a feeling, it’s a prayer, it’s a thought, it’s an emotion—all of these things are in the language.” —Larry Swalley, Lakota
Family Resource:
Twenty-one minutes a day of reading outside of school results in higher scores on reading achievement tests and an increase of more than 1.8 million reading words annually (Fisher & Frey, 2018). This means everyday.... not just school days!

Families K-5: New Progress Reports
This school year, all elementary schools of St. Louis Park Public Schools will be moving to an exciting new model for progress reporting. These updates reflect our ongoing commitment to providing you with a more comprehensive and clear understanding of your child’s growth and development.
Our new progress reports are designed to offer a more detailed look at your child’s progress toward the Minnesota State Standards.
The new progress reports will provide a clearer picture of your child’s strengths and areas where they may need more support. You’ll receive more specific, individualized comments that will help you understand your child’s unique learning journey. This will make it easier for you to partner with us to reinforce learning and support growth at home.
Here’s what you can expect:
- More detailed feedback: You will see more comprehensive information about your child’s academic progress toward grade level standards.
- More regular updates: Progress reports will be sent home according to the same schedule as before, but with more detailed information about your child’s overall progress.
- Opportunities for collaboration: If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher. These reports are a tool for strengthening communication between school and home, so we can better support your child together.
We also want to take a moment to acknowledge and deeply appreciate the hard work our teachers are putting in to learn and implement this new progress report structure. They are training and preparing the new reports to ensure that they are meaningful and reflective of your child’s growth. Their commitment to making this transition smooth and effective speaks to their passion for helping each student thrive.
We understand that this is a new structure, and we appreciate your understanding and support as we make this important transition. Our goal is to ensure that you feel well-informed and equipped to support your child’s success.
