| Friends and Colleagues, By the late 1970’s Chicano activism in Bexar County, Texas was very hot. It was at the time a bit random, disorganized. But by the early 1980’s, the Chicano / Chicana Movement had become just that. An organized action group, rather like the Black Power Movement at the same time. These two pamphlets with skull-faced {Calaveros] women on the covers, are from the Bexar County Chicanas Political Coalition. It was founded in the late 1970’s, but quickly had officers, by-laws, and was producing print material such as these. The byline on the covers of these pamphlets translates “Anonymous & Interfering Troublesome Women”. Are these a relic of the past, or a harbinger of the future? We can’t hazard a guess. What do you think? Cheers, Nick | | |
