Welcome to our Christmas Eve Service here at St. George Orthodox Cathedral. We are delighted that you have chosen to take a few moments this evening to worship the Lord with us.
Over 2,000 years ago on a silent Holy Night, the Savior of the World was born in the flesh. Not in a Palace filled with pomp and circumstance, but in a lowly stable, in a cave because “there was no place for them in the inn”
So many people today still have no desire to make room for the Savior in their hearts, but we would encourage you tonight to once again, dedicate your mind, body and soul and to invite Him in to dwell in your heart.
We will chant the appropriate hymns of worship for the Vesperal Divine Liturgy of St. Basil, which you can by clicking here so you can participate and follow along in the Divine Service. As we read the beautiful words from Scripture from both the Old and New Testament, please take the time to listen and ponder them in your heart.
We will hear in the Gospel according to Luke “And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will among men!’”
We pray that this Service tonight will help bring peace in our own hearts as we once again come together as the Body of Christ, His Family, to worship and offer Him praise for the Greatest Gift ever given to all of humankind, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
We pray that you and your loved ones have a Blessed and Merry Christmas and again thank you for being with us on this Holy Night!
