with optional Zoom Webinar

Everything you need to know is below.

This is required reading if you plan to participate - please take note and save these instructions.

Inclusive. Secure.

Engaging.

You asked for it and the WCC has been working hard all year to deliver. For the first time ever, the Fall Town Hall will be:

  • A live event with a webinar option.
  • Using Mi-Voice, an internationally respected third-party voting platform.

Here is the agenda:

  • A brief intro by WCC
  • Candidate intro's (including nominations from the floor), 30-minute Q&A per Board, then voting on the Candidates in this order: Parks, Village, Schools, Library
  • Closing and next steps

We ask for your patience and enthusiasm as we strive to set the standard for Town Halls to come!

Here are your WCC-Proposed candidates.

Here are the floor nominations: Scott Myers (Village Council), Bill Murphy and Mary Garrison (both Parks).

Read on for what you need to do.

Voter eligibility

Whether you attend in-person or on-line, to be eligible to vote you must be a voting-age resident of Winnetka or the areas of Northfield, Glencoe, or Kenilworth served by the Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District or Winnetka Park District.

NOTE: Folks in these at-large areas only vote on the taxing body (Library or Parks) that covers them...not Village or Schools.

How to attend and vote

Arrive by 6:30PM using the main entrance to Skokie School at 520 Glendale Avenue.

When you arrive, we will check you in and:

  1. Confirm you live in a covered voting district (anyone one can attend, but only those who live in the voting districts can vote).
  2. Confirm you do not already have a Ballot Access Code (more on this below).
  3. If you do not already have a Ballot Access Code, we will issue you a paper ballot with a unique code. 1 code = 1 ballot.

On your way in please say Hi to Candidates and sign their nominating petitions. Petitions will also be circulated during the meeting.

If you can't attend the Town Hall in person, you can watch the event remotely via Zoom webinar. Here is the link.

Folks on Zoom will be able to submit questions using the chat feature. Co-hosts will feed them into the live event Q&A.

How to vote digitally

Anyone not comfortable with technology should attend in-person and use a paper ballot. If in doubt, join in-person.

To vote digitally you must request a Ballot Access Code by Midnight, November 5th.

  • Request a Digital Access Code here
  • We will verify your residency
  • Within 3 days, you'll receive an email from "Mi-Voice" containing your unique voting code. Your voting code is needed to access your ballot the night of the event, whether you vote in-person or during the webinar. Save it, do not share it.
  • If you have not received your Mi-Voice email (check your spam folder) within three days, contact us.
  • If you have received your code, but have technical questions (code doesn't work, etc.) contact support@mi-voice.com

Remember, if you miss the deadline, you can still vote in-person.

A few other things to note:

  • You can use your unique code to access the digital voting platform once the Town Hall begins at 7:00PM...
  • ...but you need to follow-along during the event, as the Parks voting will likely need to be done in rounds, and only round 1 can be configured in advance

We need time to get everyone checked-in and to distribute ballots, so again, PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY if joining in-person! You can chat with the Candidates and sign nominating petitions to help us get them on the April 1st General Election ballot.

Important note: While we are not bound by the Open Meetings Act (no tax dollars collected or spent – just donations, and thank you!) our Caucus Bylaws, Rule 102 states that Caucus Council meetings – except for candidate interviews and meetings during which sensitive personal information is discussed – are open to the public "for observation, but not participation."
