Innovating Commerce Serving Communities
Staff from the City of Montclair's Economic Development Agency recently returned from a successful trip to the Innovating Commerce Serving Communities (ICSC) Conference held in Las Vegas, May 19th through 22nd. This premier industry event provided a valuable platform for staff to showcase the City of Montclair as well as exciting opportunities for business investment, development, and expansion.
Economic Development staff actively promoted the City of Montclair to potential investors and developers. Staff members highlighted and promoted various areas in the City of Montclair that are ripe for growth and development. The areas for growth and development included the following:
-
North Montclair Downtown Specific Plan Area: This vibrant area offers a unique blend of retail, office, and residential space, perfect for businesses seeking a dynamic and walkable environment centered around the Montclair Transcenter - a multimodal transit hub along the Metrolink San Bernardino Line and soon to be terminus of the Metro Gold Line Light Rail.
-
Montclair Place District Specific Plan Area: With its focus on mixed-use development, this district presents an opportunity for innovative retail, entertainment, and residential projects to be built at Montclair Place – a regional shopping mall.
-
Proposed Zoning Changes as part of the General Plan Update: These updates aim to streamline the development process and create a more flexible framework for businesses to thrive by allowing mixed-use developments to occur along major thoroughfares including Central Avenue, Holt Boulevard, and Mission Boulevard.
Throughout the conference, Economic Development staff participated in various networking events and meetings, fostering valuable connections with industry leaders and players.
This participation in the ICSC demonstrates the City of Montclair's proactive approach to economic development. By actively engaging with the industry, the City of Montclair is well-positioned to attract new businesses and investment, ultimately creating jobs and fostering a thriving local economy.
