It's ALMOST JUNE!
As the school year comes to a close, it's important to ensure that young professionals and our
Corporate Work Study Partners have a positive and productive experience.
Here are some helpful tips for supervising young professionals during this crucial period:
1. Conduct a Final Performance Review
Discuss their accomplishments, strengths, and areas for improvement. Provide constructive feedback and recognize their contributions to the team. This review helps them understand their progress and areas for growth.
2. Plan a Farewell: Celebrate!
Organize a small gathering to celebrate the young professional's achievements and their time with you. This could be a team lunch, a virtual meeting, or a casual get-together. It’s a nice way to show appreciation and create a positive ending to their experience. Many of you have asked if it's ok to give gift cards and other gifts. It is ok! You are welcome to celebrate your young professionals!
3. Keep the Door Open: Are there VOLUNTEER or PAID SUMMER OPPORTUNTIES?
Let students know that they are welcome to stay in touch and reach out for advice or future opportunities. Maintaining a positive relationship can be beneficial for both the intern and the organization in the long run.
Final Thoughts
Supervising young professionals effectively, especially at the end of the school year, requires a thoughtful approach that acknowledges their hard work, provides valuable feedback, and supports their future growth. By following these tips, you can ensure that your young professionals leave with a positive experience and a strong foundation for their future endeavors. You are part of the fabric and foundation of their work life.
THANK YOU for leading by example!
