Right now there's a limited time flash sale.

It’s Official: The NJ-SPJ PRESS ID CARD is specifically cited in guidance issued by the NJ Attorney General, for interaction with law enforcement, and by the Office of the Governor, for Statehouse access. It is now also cited by the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission if you wish to apply for NJP-license plates.

Laminated Vehicle Card with R100 Reflective Tape

If you often drive to breaking news stories or to municipal meetings, we recommend that you get the laminated visor card.

The Flash Sale! Elevate yourself to a whole new level as a

full member of SPJ!

  • For legal and insurance reasons, to qualify for a press card you must be a member of both the local NJ Society of Professional Journalists (founded in 1959) and national SPJ (founded in 1909). These are separate, non-profit organizations.

Right now, national SPJ is letting us run a FLASH SALE on membership! You can join or upgrade for such a low price that your membership will likely pay for itself, from all the discounts and benefits. There are also opportunities for career education and professional advancement.

We've changed our credit card processor to make the check-out process easier. You will no longer need to navigate confusing PayPal menus to use a credit card.

You’ll find all the details when you click here to renew or apply for your

2024 NJ WORKING PRESS ID CARD.

We do not know how long the Flash Sale will last. But we do know that there will be a postal rate increase in January. Save money by applying today!

Some Quick FAQs:

Questions should go to [email protected]

Must I submit three recent clips? That’s one way to be verified. But we also accredit career journalists, or those with a degree in an associated field, regardless of employment status. Renewals do not require clips.

Do I get a lanyard? Hundreds of reporters already have the NJ-SPJ double-reflective PRESS lanyard. The Office of NJ Attorney General says that the lanyard is consistent with its guidelines for interacting with law enforcement at mass protests. You should get one if you don't have one.

Can my editor or news director apply for me?That option exists and satisfies the verification requirements, but editors must still provide a unique email address for each person, and other individual info. For legal and insurance reasons, everyone who gets a NJ Press ID Card must be a member. The personal information is how you will receive your membership benefits.

NJ Broadcasters Association members:  The NJBA is once again paying for your press card, lanyard, visor card, and a full SPJ membership, while the flash sale continues. This is an upgrade from last year. You can get information from [email protected]
