2024 primary election results: Analysis of General Assembly races

The 2024 primary election saw ballots cast from just 12.7% of registered voters in Kentucky, according to the Secretary of State’s office.  


This year voters will decide who will represent them in all 100 Kentucky General Assembly House districts and odd-numbered Senate districts. See who is moving on to the general election in November.

A handful of County offices were on the ballot for the 2024 primary election in five counties plus Commonwealth’s Attorneys in 10 judicial circuits.

April 2024 voter registration stats

The most recent report for April 2024 shows that there are 3,491,005 registered voters in Kentucky. At the state level, the number of people registered with either the Republican or Democrat parties is relatively close, but the breakdown by county varies widely.

Livingston presents presidential scholarships to two students

KACo President David Livingston presented two high school students in Scott County with annual KACo Presidential Scholarships recently.



Great Crossing High School’s Bryan Munoz and Scott County High School’s Aubrey Roark each received a scholarship valued up to $8,000.

Government Resources Accelerating Needed Transformation (GRANT) Program of 2024

During the 2024 session, the General Assembly modified the existing Government Resources Accelerating Needed Transformation (GRANT) program, which provides state matching funds for counties to help meet federal grant applications. The legislation ended the previous program as of April 15, 2024, and created a new program under the Cabinet for Economic Development.


The first application deadline for the program is June 1, 2024.

Federal disaster declared following April storms

Residents and property owners in 11 Kentucky counties may be eligible for federal assistance to recover from damage caused by severe storms in early April. 


Gov. Andy Beshear announced Wednesday that President Joe Biden has approved a federal disaster declaration for tornadoes and straight-line winds that blew across the state on April 2-3. The declaration makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Boyd, Carter, Fayette, Greenup, Henry, Jefferson, Jessamine, Mason, Oldham, Union and Whitley counties.

Work zones are dangerous; Distractions make things worse

Work zones are everywhere. Whether it’s a road closed to fix an underground pipe or an entire block closed for scheduled maintenance to a building, we’ve all experienced a detour on or around the road. According to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), 857 people were killed and 44,240 more were injured in work zone crashes in 2020.
