2024 Fall Tax Symposium Registration Open

The 2024 Fall Tax Symposium, hosted annually by the Vermont Department of Taxes, is scheduled for October 22, 2024, from 9:00am - 4:00pm EST in Montpelier.


Presentations by Tax Commissioner Craig Bolio, Directors, and key staff members of the Tax Department offer information about the Department's implementation of legislative changes, form changes that will affect the upcoming tax season, and other timely topics.


The Symposium is geared toward tax professionals. In-person attendance is limited to 200 attendees, remote attendance is unlimited. CPA Continuing Professional Education credits will be granted to in-person attendees only. We hope to see you there!

New payroll and self-employment income tax began July 1, 2024

Reporting and remittance of this new payroll and self-employment income tax began on July 1, 2024. The Department hosted webinars for employers and self-employed individuals and published the Vermont Child Care Contribution Guide. Recorded webinars, presentations, and frequently asked questions are available on our website.

Municipal Official Education Opportunities

The Division of Property Valuation and Review (PVR) offers free certification and general education opportunities for listers, assessors, and other municipal employees throughout the year. Subjects include working with myVTax municipal accounts, VTPIE, and good practices. Register and view previously recorded training videos on our Municipal Officials page (tax.vermont.gov/municipal-officials/education).


Upcoming Course: Data Collection

August 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th This four-day course is designed to train listers and others interested in the fine art of data collection and property inspection. It also covers the type of information a data collector needs to generate a value using NEMRC MicroSolve CAMA program, as well as providing background for other systems. Topics include grading factors, determining quality and condition, and the data collector’s role in reappraisal. This course will be of interest to listers / assessors, appraisers, and mass appraisal firms.
