The highlight of the Wyoming Soccer AGM & Workshops every year is the Awards Ceremony.
This year, we were joined by keynote speaker, author, and film producer, Sean Covel. Sean has produced eight movies, including the cult classic Napoleon Dynamite, and written nine children's books, including the best-selling Porter the Hoarder series.
Sean recently founded the Connective Collective, a 501(c)3 that creates micro charities to solve local problems in a way that can be replicated and scaled nationwide. His 12 Days of Pizza project provides food-insecure families with consistent meals over the Christmas break; his Porter Project has become the most successful family engagement project in South Dakota history, and other projects, such as the “Snowflake Paradox,” “Project Barn Burner,” and “We See You We Thank You,” have created community connection and increased safety.
He delivered a great workshop that engaged us and made us think outside the box about how we can personalize and localize projects to improve our communities!
Our other workshops touched on international tours with our teams, insurance, Soccer for Success (contact us to see how you can get soccer programming into your elementary schools!), Wyoming Soccer grant opportunities and dealing with stress and pressure!
During our evening celebration with Sean (in which he gave us some interesting background information on the making of Napoleon Dynamite and had everyone belly laughing), we recognized our amazing members, including administrators, volunteers, referees, coaches, TOPSoccer Buddies, and last, but certainly not least, our players! We also inducted our third member into the Wyoming Soccer Association Hall of Fame, honoring them with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
