Call for Entries: AIA LA Honor Awards

To encourage excellence in architecture, the Louisiana Chapter of the American Institute of Architects conducts an annual Awards Program. Through this program, AIA Louisiana seeks to honor works of distinction by its members and bring to public attention outstanding examples of architecture.

Any architectural project completed within the last 5 calendar years (January 2019) which has been produced by, or in collaboration with, an AIA Louisiana member is eligible for submission. Projects may be located outside of Louisiana but must be submitted by an AIA Louisiana member who served as either the Design Architect or the Architect-of-Record for the project. Members are encouraged to submit previously submitted non-winning projects or ones that have won awards in other programs.

DOE Grant & the Louisiana Energy Codes Project

Louisiana took a historic step forward in 2022 by passing Act 635 which permits the upgrade and adoption of residential and commercial energy codes to the most recently published versions, going into effect July 1, 2023. While the legal transition to the most recent building energy codes is complete, taking the next steps to ensure implementation and enforcement are fundamental to realizing the wide range of energy, environmental, health, and economic benefits of an advanced energy code.

The Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) and a team of local experts, the LA Office of the State Fire Marshall, the LA Energy Office, the LA American Institute of Architects, Green Coast Enterprises, and the International Code Council will provide resources for supporting and engaging the building energy workforce in Louisiana. This effort will include readying the workforce, creating, and utilizing new tools and technologies, and providing resources to officials at state and local levels to increase knowledge and create efficient and effective ways to enforce local energy codes. It will also equip stakeholders for success with additional funding applications.
