Important Notice: Increased Capacity for LLA Classes

ACCG staff members are aware of the challenges presented over the past few days concerning sold-out Lifelong Learning Academy (LLA) classes at the 2025 ACCG Annual Conference. To help address this issue ACCG has increased the capacity for all classes. We have added a total of 70 seats to the 14 classes offered on Thursday, April 24, and a total of 70 seats for the 14 classes offered on Saturday, April 26. This will generate 140 additional seats, with at least five additional seats in each of the 28 classes.

If you would like to add a class or modify your current LLA class schedule, please reach out to your county clerk or county staff member who handles ACCG event registration for assistance.

Not If, But When: Disaster Preparedness and Recovery General Session

Friday, April 25

2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

In September 2024, Hurricane Helene caused significant damage to the state of Georgia resulting in a Major Disaster Declaration in 41 counties. This was the most significant hurricane event to hit the mainland United States in decades, impacting not only the lives of the residents of the Peach State but also many of its major industries such as agriculture and forestry with a more than $5 billion detriment to the economy. While state, local, and community officials are still working to recover from this significant event, it is imperative to leverage the lessons learned from all involved in the preparedness and recovery efforts.

This general session will feature a panel of key stakeholders ranging from:

  • Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security
  • Georgia Forestry Commission
  • Georgia Department of Agriculture (invited)
  • Georgia Transmission Corporation
  • Georgia Power
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (invited)
  • County testimonies from Lowndes (invited) and Toombs counties

Though lessons shared by the panel will stem from dealing directly with a hurricane, most of the information may apply to any natural disaster or crisis event when considering preparedness and recovery. Not only that, but all county officials must also consider “when”, not “if”, natural disasters will strike their communities.

Get Festive at the Mardi Gras Celebration

Saturday, April 26

6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Who says you need to travel to New Orleans to experience Mardi Gras? ACCG is bringing the vibrant spirit of Cajun culture to Savannah for the Saturday night conference celebration. Get ready for a lively night filled with delectable eats, fresh oysters, and live music from The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra on the Savannah Riverfront. If you're up to the challenge, use the Mardi Gras Celebration to showcase your county spirit by dressing in festive attire or finding creative ways to put your county on display.

Don’t forget your comfortable shoes – we’re hearing talks of a second line parade!

P.S. A few members of The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra are Louisiana natives and can’t wait to bring a taste of Mardi Gras magic to Saturday night’s event.

Embracing the 'S' in #159Strong

S is for spirited. Georgia’s 159 counties are full of life and comprise the state’s vibrant communities that are, essentially, the fabric of the place we call home. These spirited communities are what help attract and retain leading industries, offering diverse places for Georgians to work and play. They also provide an array of services and programs that both meet and often exceed the needs of constituents. Our spirited counties are celebrated locally and recognized nationally and statewide. #159Strong
