| | | MEET OUR NEWEST BOARD MEMBERS! | | |
This year marks the first under our newly implemented nomination and election process for RFABC Board positions. Four positions were up for election, two of which are new additions to our Board structure.
While the nomination pool was smaller than anticipated, we are thrilled to welcome a group of highly qualified and experienced individuals to the Board.
The Facilities, Arenas, and Associate Director positions were each filled by acclamation, following our thorough pre-qualification vetting process.
The Programs and Services Director position did not receive any new nominations; however, we are pleased to share that the current Director has expressed a willingness to continue serving and has the full support of the Executive.
The Education & Technical Director, Ron Dietrich, has stepped down from his position on the Board, effective immediately.
On behalf of RFABC, we sincerely thank Ron for his dedication, hard work, and invaluable contributions. As a Board member, he played a key role in advancing education initiatives. The Board and staff deeply appreciate Ron’s impact and will miss his presence.
As we move forward, we are seeking a new Board member to step into the Education & Technical Director role following our conference.
We look forward to working with this refreshed Board composition and are excited to introduce you to our newest (and returning) Board members!

Keith Holloway
Facilities Director (2025-2027)
Keith Holloway has been working in municipal recreation since 2001, beginning his career with the City of Coquitlam as a Summer Camp Leader during his university years. He then spent six years with the City of Port Coquitlam’s youth services department before moving to the City of Abbotsford, where he worked as a Community Recreation Programmer for three and a half years.
Since November 2015, Keith has been with the Township of Langley and currently serves as the Community Recreation Centre Manager for the George Preston Recreation Centre.
Keith has been actively involved with RFABC, serving as a Conference Committee Member, Conference Chair, and most recently, the Lower Mainland Zone Director.

Robin Langille
Arenas Director (2025-2027)
With 39 years of experience in Parks, Recreation, and Community Services, Robin Langille has built a diverse and impactful career across Canada. He is currently the Director of Recreation for the District of Chetwynd, BC.
Throughout his career, Robin has worked in three provinces and one territory, including a unique post 200 km north of the Arctic Circle.
A dedicated educator and leader, Robin also serves as an instructor with the Recreation Facilities Association of British Columbia (RFABC), teaching Refrigeration Safety Awareness, Pool Operator Levels 1 & 2, and Arena Ice Maker courses.

Shawn Fengler
Programs & Services Director (2025-2027)
With no nominations received for the Programs and Services Director position, Shawn Fengler has graciously agreed to continue in her role—bringing consistency and her valuable experience to the RFABC Board. Shawn is enthusiastic about continuing to serve and support the organization’s growth, particularly as the role evolves under its new title.
Shawn brings over 25 years of experience with the City of Port Coquitlam, where she has contributed significantly to arena programs, special events, emergency preparedness, and broader community recreation initiatives. Her deep commitment to inclusive, community-focused service makes her a valuable asset to the Board as we move forward.

Sean Dyer
Associate Director (2025-2027)
Sean Dyer has built a career in recreation and facility management over the past 25 years. He started with the City of Richmond, where he worked his way up from lifeguard to supervisor in his first five years. He then moved into the Facilities Department (2 yrs), and for the next 14 years, he led the Aquatic Maintenance team, overseeing day-to-day operations, maintenance planning, and project work.
From there, Sean joined the City of Abbotsford as Facilities Manager, where he spent 2.5 years before deciding to take the leap into the private sector full-time. He now runs Riverwest General Contractors, a company that delivers facility upgrades across B.C. and the Northwest Territories, with a focus on practical, reliable solutions for public spaces.
As Associate Director, Sean is eager to collaborate with industry professionals, share insights, and contribute to RFABC’s efforts in fostering high-quality recreational spaces across the province

CPRA is now accepting grant applications for their Green Jobs Initiative, a program that empowers youth by creating meaningful job placements.
The program will provide direct financial support (via 50% wage subsidies) to local governments (municipalities, Indigenous communities, etc.) and other sector organizations, to support nearly 140 jobs that focus on green career-related activities.
By empowering youth with job opportunities and fostering environmental stewardship, we contribute to their personal growth, the advancement of community priorities, and creating a sustainable future for our communities and our planet.
All 2025 applications are due Friday, April 11, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. EDT.
