Good afternoon,
If Carolina and Vegas play the same way as last night for the next six games, we will have a memorable finals. A goal in the first 30 seconds of the game and a goal in the first 25 seconds of the second period. It took a minute 30 for the first goal in the third period.
Football news. Myles Garrett is traded to Rams for multiple draft choices plus a player. Only one first draft choice is included in this deal. The Rams continue to prefer current production over future potential.
A.J. Brown is traded for a 2028 first round draft choice not a 2027.
Drake London signs a 4 year $141.0 million contact. $100 million guaranteed.
This is an over payment to me. This is the third highest contract for a receiver. He is not the third best receiver. Its questionable if he is a top ten receiver.
The Transcontinental Baseball League ("TBL") Baseball Annual (2026 edition) is now available. I always look forward to the TBL annual every spring. The 2026 edition is no exception. This well written annual by Walter Hunt and other managers is a spring highlight for me.
The TBL has 24 teams. It is a draft league of 45 seasons with full record keeping of the last 43 seasons. Paul Montague, manager of the Munich Marauders, for 43 seasons is the longest serving manager in league history. The league has 6 managers with 40 plus seasons. Another 7 managers have 30 plus seasons. One manager has just completed his first season.
Check out the TBL website for more information about it.
The annual cover subject is Legacy. What do you do with a long running league whose managers are getting older? Do you let "nature run its course"? Do you sent a final date for the league? Focus on recruiting new managers to keep the league going? This is a timely issue. I'm sure there are other leagues facing these same issues.
The 2026 Braves are 40-20 this morning. After 60 games in 2025, the Braves' record was 27-33. It wasn't until early July that the Braves won their 40th game in 2025.
Are you ready for more football?
