Regional drought level vs. YOUR watering rules:

What's the difference?

Here's the scoop: The Okanagan is in another hot, dry summer. The Province of B.C. has just increased the Okanagan to a Level 3 as of July 10, 2025.

Conditions across the valley will vary, so it is important to know where to get accurate and locally relevant information.

The drought level set by the Province tells us the big picture for the Okanagan, but what really counts for your home and garden are your local watering restrictions. Why? Because they're set based on the specific water supply and demand right where you live.

Your local water supplier knows best what's needed to keep water flowing for homes, food, fish, and firefighting right where you are.

Don't get caught off guard! We've provided the current conditions of seven local communities in the Okanagan below.

  • For other areas: A quick Google of "your location + watering restrictions" or a call to your water supplier will get you the local lowdown.

Happy 1st Anniversary to a powerful tool!

One year ago, we launched the Okanagan Climate Indicators Dashboard – your free window into our valley's changing climate and water quality.

"One year later, it's incredible to see how much we are still learning from the Okanagan Climate Indicators Dashboard. I was at a conference recently and it was great to hear from all the people who've used it to understand climate change in the Okanagan." said Sandra Schira, OBWB Water Science Specialist.

The dashboard uses real data, presented clearly so everyone can see the trends. Explore the data yourself
