Hello Bigs,

We hope you enjoyed celebrating Mentoring Month this January! The Celebrate Big event was a wonderful time, and we are so grateful for the meaningful moments you share with your Littles. Your dedication truly makes a “BIG” difference.

Congratulations to our Big Brother of the Year Robert “Chris” Williams and Big Sister of the Year Kimberly Towery!

As we move forward, we humbly ask you to consider becoming a monthly donor. With uncertain funding ahead, your support will help Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas continue our mission of serving youth facing the challenges of poverty, providing them with the resources and encouragement they need to reach their full potential.

Every contribution makes an impact—no amount is too small. For reference, $125 per month supports a match for an entire year. Please click "Give Today" to make a donation.

Wishing you a happy Valentine’s Day! Thank you for your dedication to our mission and for the amazing work you do for the children we serve. We appreciate you!

Yours in service to youth,

Donna Dunlap

GIVE TODAY

The Site-Based programs had a blast celebrating our Bigs for National Mentoring Month. Special moments were had throughout the month and the Bigs received gifts of appreciation.

We thank you Bigs for everything you do each and every day!

MEET BIG BROTHER HENRY

MATCHED FOR 6 YEARS

Why do you enjoy the Big Brothers Big Sisters program?

I’ve really enjoyed connecting with Jayden on the things we both enjoy, but it’s been particularly impactful to introduce each other to the things we’re independently interested in. He took me to Carowinds this fall (I haven’t been in almost 10 years) and I took him to the Mint Museum uptown (his first visit to an art museum). The BBBS program has allowed us both to expand our horizons and I’m very grateful for that.

What has been the most memorable moment in your match?

Jayden and I did a cooking class organized by BBBS at Dilworth UMC. It was Jayden’s first time cooking anything more advanced than ramen noodles, so I think he was a bit apprehensive going in… but he crushed it! He left the experience wanting to cook for his mom and even got an offer to shadow the catering team at another event. We had lots of laughs and made some top-notch ziti. Even Gordon Ramsey would have approved.

Why does your match work so well?

Our match works well because we share a similar sense of humor and were able to build a quick rapport with each other. Whether we’re doing a very involved activity or just sitting down for a meal, there’s never a dull moment in our conversations.
