PLUMA LODGE — This Week’s Highlights

This week at Pluma brought exciting variety and nonstop action! We landed dorado, pacú, and yatorana, with most of the strikes coming on streamers. On the rainy day, as the water turned a bit brown, the fish shifted gears—poppers and mice patterns stole the show, delivering explosive surface takes and unforgettable battles.

Sábalo are continuing to arrive in strong numbers, setting the stage for even more aggressive feeding behavior. The river level held steady, offering consistent conditions. We were thrilled to host 12 enthusiastic anglers from the United States, who embraced the challenges and enjoyed a fantastic week of fishing despite changing weather.

Week three at Sécure was truly special, shared with a wonderful group of seven guests: two friends from South Africa, an angler from California, and an Argentine family of four.

The weather played in our favor—sunny, cool days created the perfect backdrop for a magical fishing experience. The river remained crystal clear throughout the week, with a slight rise in water level after a light rain on the last day. That touch of rainfall sparked a flurry of activity, leading to a thrilling grand finale on the water!

We found plenty of dorado and yatorana in both the upper and lower sections, and used a dynamic mix of classic streamers and topwater flies to great success. While the cooler water made pacú a bit more elusive, we still managed to entice a few—some even took seed imitations and gave us epic battles!

The highlight? A massive 17-pound dorado that crowned an unforgettable week of fishing, camaraderie, and wild jungle beauty.
