New Qualifying Cycle!

The Road to the 2027 Nationals Starts this Fall

The TN Senior Olympics will begin a new qualifying cycle this fall with our districts.

Our board of directors has committed to this qualifying cycle; therefore, it is imperative that the 2025 district dates are noted on calendars. Do not miss the 2026 state finals.

Steps:

1)     Fall Districts 2025. Participate in your home district or any district to be eligible to register for the state finals.

2)     State Finals 2026. Dates to be announced early 2026. All district participants (regardless of 1st place or last place) and open sports athletes will be eligible to register.

3)     Nationals 2027. Top finalists at the 2026 State Finals will qualify for the 2027 Nationals in Tulsa, OK.  Visit www.nsga.com for further information.

REGISTRATION

(ONLINE registration ONLY)

REGISTER NOW for the Greater Nashville District

You can also click the red District Registration button at the top of our website.

NOTE about mailed entry forms:

To save money we will be doing ONLINE REGISTRATION ONLY - NO mail-in forms.

In past years we mailed out over 1,000 8-page entry forms with a handful mailing them back in.

We plan to accommodate those who do not have a friend or family member to help them register.

These individuals will need to leave a message at 615-200-8760 at least a week before their deadline. A return call will then be placed to help that individual complete registration.

Modified Track and Swimming District Rule
(Implemented in 2017)

To combat fatigue and injuries that occur during our one day
district events, our board has implemented these new rules:

Track
For every district running event completed, an additional running
event may be entered at state (any distance may be chosen).
Examples:
If one district event is completed such as the 100m run, another
event such as the 50m run may be added when registering for
state.
If two district events are completed (such as the 400m and 800m
run), 2 additional running events may be added when registering
for state.
And so on.

Swimming- please remember that 6 events total may be chosen
at district or state.
For every district swimming event completed within a stroke, an
additional event within that stroke may be entered at state
(any distance may be chosen).
Examples:
A 50 back competitor at the district may also register for the
100 back at state.
If two district events are completed (such as the 50 free and
100 fly), one additional free and one additional fly event
at state may be picked up.
This allows district swimmers the opportunity to swim less than 6 events at district and to change up events within the same stroke when registering for state. As a reminder, swimmers are limited to 6 swimming events at state competition.

The Tennessee Senior Olympics NPO number is GS677.

We really appreciate your time in this matter. If you do not live in the Greater Nashville and surrounding counties, please disregard this information.

Districts- Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What age group will I be in?

A: District participants will participate and qualify in age divisions that match the state finals age determination. Age

at the district will be determined by the athlete’s age as of

December 31 of the next calendar year. Athletes must be 50

years old by December 31, 2026, to compete in the

2026 state finals.

For example, for the 2025 districts, age will be determined as

of December 31, 2026. For the 2026 state finals, age will be

determined as of December 31, 2026. This is to ensure that

athletes are practicing and playing in the age group that they will

be placed in at the summer 2026 state finals. For example, an

individual who turns 50 on April 1, 2026, will play in the 50-54

division in the fall 2025 districts although he or she is 49.

Athletes must be 50 years old by December 31 of 2026 year to

compete in the 2026 state finals.

Q: What are OPEN SPORTS?

A: Open sports do not require district qualification, and they include

archery, 3x3 basketball, basketball skill events, cycling (5K and 20K), disc golf, the 5K and 10K road races, 1-mile run, 5K Walk, triple jump, pole vault, powerlifting, powerwalk, and volleyball. You may register for these directly at the 2026 State Finals.

Sports not offered at your home district are also considered open.

This list is subject to change by our board of directors. Notification of changes will be via e-mail.

Q: I cannot make the date for my district. What can I do?

A: Please remember that you may participate in any one of the ten districts.

If there is an extenuating circumstance such as injury, medical emergency, or other very unusual personal situation, and you cannot attend another district, you will need to do the following:

Our board is currently reviewing and updating our hardship policies. Hardship procedures and forms will be outlined in upcoming e-mail blasts this fall, so stay tuned.

If you are a brand-new athlete (never competed in a district or state finals before), you are eligible for a one-time exemption.

We look forward to seeing all of you at our district competitions!
