2025 | Hope Edition

Moving Forward Together

As 2025 comes to a close, I am reflecting on a year of meaningful change at Vista Maria. This year asked us to make thoughtful decisions about how we can best support the youth and families in our care. After careful consideration, we ended our residential mental health treatment programs and sharpened our focus on community-based programs and how we can leverage our strengths to have the greatest impact.

Even amid transition, our mission remains constant. In 2025, Vista Maria served more than 280 children and families across Southeast Michigan through foster care and adoption, juvenile justice case management, transitional and independent living, and other community programs that help young people build skills, stability, and confidence for what comes next.

None of this work happens without the generosity and commitment of our supporters. In a year marked by change, your belief in Vista Maria never wavered, and that support made it possible for us to show up for youth and families when it mattered most. It truly takes a village to ensure young people have the care, stability, and encouragement they need to thrive, and we are deeply grateful to count you as part of ours. As we look ahead, we do so with excitement and purpose, knowing that together, we are building a stronger future for the youth and families who depend on us.

Thank you for standing with us during this year of growth and transformation.

Warmly,

Kathy Regan

Chief Executive Officer

2025 In Review

This year, we were awarded our first federal grant, opening the door to new programming for youth and families.

More than 290 youth and families were served across all of our programs.

More than 400 volunteers proved again and again that community changes lives.

Across six fundraising events, our youth were seen and heard as they shared their stories and helped bring our mission to life.

Our COA reaccreditation reaffirmed our commitment to quality, accountability, and excellence in care.

During summer refresher training, 133 staff members were retrained, strengthening the skills that support young people every day.

Nineteen adoptions were finalized, creating permanent, loving connections for youth.

More than $500,000 was invested in updating and optimizing our spaces to better support client care.

Our mobile dentist made quality dental care easy to access for youth and families who might otherwise go without.

Eight Family Engagement events brought families together, including two therapeutic weekends centered on healing and connection.

With our new CEO, Vista Maria began its next chapter with fresh energy and clear direction. Let's Go!

Through 142 fulfilled wish lists, young people experienced the joy of being truly seen and valued during the holidays.

A brand-new swimming pool delivered countless smiles and opportunities for fun and wellness.

Because of you, these numbers represent real lives changed, real support delivered, and real hope in action.

A Safe Place to Begin Again

When a Dearborn Heights family needed help, our community answered.

Vista Maria owns this home as part of our transitional and independent living work. Because it had recently been renovated and was temporarily vacant, we were able to open the door when the mayor reached out and asked if we could help. That moment of “yes” was only possible because of you.

Your generosity helped prepare this house for its next chapter. From updates and repairs to the care that makes a space feel welcoming, donors, volunteers, and community partners came together to make sure this family could move into a safe place and finally take a deep breath. What you made possible goes beyond a roof.

You helped create stability, dignity, and a fresh start for a family doing their best to move forward. Watch the family’s story here and see your impact in action!

Your Gift Helps Write the Next Chapter

You may have seen our year-end appeal in the mail, sharing Gabby’s story and the steady support that helped her move forward. As we near the end of the year, there is still time to make a gift and be part of stories like hers.

Your generosity changes lives. It helps young people feel seen, heard, and supported by caring adults at moments when it matters most. A year-end gift right now ensures that youth continue to have access to safety, guidance, and encouragement as they take their next steps.

Thank you for believing in young people and for helping them know they matter, not just at the holidays, but all year long.

Moving Children Home, For Good

This year, our incredible Foster Care team has helped dozens of children move closer to safe, loving permanence. We completed 19 adoptions!

Six more children found stability through guardianship with kinship caregivers, keeping those irreplaceable family connections intact.

Reunification remains our top priority whenever it is safe to do so. Since April, two children have returned home, and five more are currently living safely with a parent who was not involved in the reason they entered care. Looking ahead, we hope to reunify about nine more children with their families in the first weeks of 2026!

Growing Stronger with the InSight Merger and New Detroit Building

This year marked a defining moment for Vista Maria with the official merger of Vista Maria and InSight Youth and Family Connections. This landmark step expands our community-based programs and allows us to serve more youth and families where support matters most: in their homes and neighborhoods, where young people thrive. By combining our organizations’ resources, expertise, and deep community relationships, we are strengthening our ability to deliver meaningful, responsive care.

In 2026, our new space in the city of Detroit will open as a hub for juvenile justice, mentoring, and case management services, bringing Vista Maria back to its roots. Founded in Detroit in 1883, this return reflects both where we began and where we are headed—forward, together, in service of more young people and families than ever before.
