"How are The Alliance, the U.S. Supreme Court and the future all coming to a head in 2026? If the Supreme Court rules in favor of ending the bans on change therapies in 2026, then The Alliance will champion the opportunity to rise exponentially to be the primary resource for successful therapy and client rights for children who are resolving their unwanted dysphoria and same-sex attraction. Report on Alliance 2025 Institute

Houston, Texas, was home to the 2025 Alliance conference held at the Hilton Garden Inn on October 10th  and 11th , 2025. Clinical psychologist Joseph Nicolosi, Jr. Ph. D. founder of Reintegrative Therapy®, provided the opening plenary session on Friday morning. He presented both theoretical and practical guidance using well-illustrated video clips of memory reconsolidation intervention techniques. He skillfully pointed out how brain function techniques can bring about changes in sexual arousal patterns including unwanted same-sex attractions.

Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) attorney Suzanne Beecher provided a breakout session identifying the challenges to therapy and counseling that remain following the Chiles v. Salazar case. This case again surfaced in the Friday afternoon keynote address by Attorney Brad Dacus, founder and president of the Pacific Justice Institute. Attorney Dacus offered his thoughts about the likely legal trends regarding change- exploring therapies moving forward. He also gave guidance on how counselors can still legally assist clients who wish to explore their potential for altering their sexual attractions, even in states with current bans on such professional speech.

Attorney Dacus was optimistic about the Supreme Court ruling in favor of plaintiff Kaley Chiles against Colorado’s ban based on the law’s inherent viewpoint discrimination. Attorney Dacus expressed a belief that the next front in the conflict may center on professional standards of care.

On Saturday, plenary speaker, Walt Heyer, founder of SexChangeRegret.com and Senior Fellow at the Family Research Council, provided some history of the major professional figures in the Transgender movement. He also intimately shared his own personal story. Mr. Heyer lived for eight years as a transgender woman, an identity he ended after his encounter with Christ whereupon he returned to living as a man. He shared lessons he has learned from his considerable life experience, including his interactions with thousands who have regretted their transitioning. He emphasized the value of asking such people questions such as, “Tell me what happened that made you not like yourself?”

Spread throughout the rest of the conference were 12 breakout sessions on a variety of relevant topics which included:

·    The care and treatment of gender incongruence.

·    Ethical issues in counseling.

·    Questions, truth & hospitality: crafting the caring community.

·    A conceptual critique of sexual orientation,

·    Organized psychology’s ideological monoculture.

Breakout presenters included Andrew Rodgiguez, David Pickup, Laura Haynes, Peggy McFarland, Andy Visser, Robert Vazzo, Christopher Rosik, Michelle Cretella, Matthew Sciba, and Billy Burleigh.

In general, there was an upbeat atmosphere among Alliance officials and attendees. The Alliance Research/Journal Division, led by Dr. Christopher Rosik PH. D, had a major role in providing solid testimony in recent oral arguments by the Supreme Court in the Chiles case. There is a palpable sense that the many efforts on the part of the Alliance to challenge these legal bans on change-exploring talk therapy over the past 13 years may finally be bearing tangible and lasting fruit.
