Introducing the Order of the Sword and Shield
The Order of the Sword and Shield (OSS), Omicron Sigma Sigma, at the American Samoa Community College is now one of over 90 active chapters nationwide, with members representing security studies-related disciplines such as:
- Cyber and Information Security
- Emergency Medical Servies
- Emergency Management
- Homeland Security
- Intelligence
- Public Safety, and more.
We are calling you - ASCC students majoring and professionals working in a security studies-related field to apply for membership and join us for an induction ceremony on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
Eligibility for ASCC Students:
- Majoring in eligible security studies-related degree programs.
- Have a CGPA of 3.25 or higher.
- Completed HALF of the total number of credits for your overall and degree program requirements.
- Submit the required information and the supporting documents (unofficial transcript) with references and appropriate fees.

Eligibility for Professionals:
- At least five years of full-time work experience in the aforementioned security-related occupation.
- A proven commitment to the protection of people, information, assets, or the community at large.
- An affirmation to abide by all laws, restrictions, regulations, rules, and requirements of the United States of America and it’s Consitution.
- Submit the required information and supporting documents (personal letter of interest, recommendation letter, and resume) with references and appropriate fees.

A one-time $75 fee will be applied for a lifetime membership with benefits such as:
- access to financial scholarships, awards, and grants;
- public recognition as a high-achieving individual in your discipline;
- networking opportunities with other OSS members across the nation;
- development opportunities in key skills in organization/chapter-sponsored activities and more!
