May is Mental Health Awareness Month – Take QPR Training Today

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to highlight an important resource intended to improve mental health awareness and support here in Kentucky.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death among people aged 10-34 in our state. It is a reminder, especially this month, that taking care of each other is what we do here in Kentucky. 

You can be a lifeline to someone who needs hope by completing online QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer), a national suicide-prevention training designed for nonmedical professionals. UK HealthCare’s Healthy Kentucky Initiative has made the training available for free to all Kentuckians. It takes less than an hour to complete. 

QPR training equips you with the skills to:

• Recognize when someone you love may be at risk or in need of support
• Initiate a conversation if you are worried about someone 
• Connect someone to the right resources for them.

Take the training today and learn to be a lifeline for those you love.

The Bourbon Capital Alliance, in partnership with Visit Bardstown, Bardstown Main Street and nine partner distilleries, is proud to announce the full schedule for the 2025 National Bourbon Week™ celebration. Presented by Buzick Construction and held in and around the Bourbon Capital of the World June 9-15, National Bourbon Week™ brings together world-class distilleries, exclusive tastings, unique educational experiences and Bardstown’s vibrant historic downtown for a full week of celebration. 

Families may enjoy downtown Bardstown throughout the day on Saturday, June 14, as Bardstown Main Street has organized a brand-new Kids Zone with bounce houses, games and free fun, plus distillery tastings and a beer garden for those of age. The festivities on Saturday culminate in the 22nd Annual Bourbon City Street Concert, a free concert with multiple entertainers kicking off at 6 pm.

• Barrels, Bourbon & Burgers: CopperTop Tours newest adventure involves Barrels, Bourbon and Burgers. We spend the day in the heart of Kentucky, Marion County. This exciting day starts with a tour of the world's largest barrel manufacturer, Kentucky Cooperage in Lebanon. Each guest will have the opportunity to learn and watch how barrels are made from start to finish. You'll be smelling like a charred barrel for the remainder of the day!!
