The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have announced the 2025 Medicare Star Quality Ratings (Stars) for Medicare Advantage plans.
Year after year, we work to deliver quality health care to our customers. Stars scores allow us to invest in our benefits and plans, giving us more opportunities to improve the health and vitality of those we serve. Our Cigna Healthcare team is pleased to share that we expect 69% of our customers to be in a 4-Star rated plan or higher nationally for the 2025 calendar year, consistent with our 2024 rating.
We performed very well in several areas, including achieving a 4.5-Star rating on our largest contract (H4513), which serves nearly 50% of our membership, including Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, and Illinois, up from 4.0 Stars in 2024.
In addition, several contracts have received the quality bonus for achieving a Star rating of 4 or higher for multiple years, including:
- Arizona (H0354) for 7+ years
- Alabama, Texas, Tennessee & Illinois (H4513) for 7+ years
- North Carolina (H9725) for 7+ years
- Mississippi (H4407) for 4+ years
- South Carolina (H7020) for 5+ years
Many of the thresholds to achieve Star ratings increased this year, requiring our plans to perform better than in the past to meet the increasing standards. Based on historical CMS rules, we anticipate our nationwide enrollment weighted average will be 4.0 Stars for 2025.
Every day, we work to provide our customers with better benefits and services. Going into 2025, we remain a committed and consistent partner. Thank you for your continued partnership to help us improve the health and vitality of the lives of those we serve.
