Youth ages 16–24 who are not enrolled in school and face barriers like foster care, homelessness, justice involvement, or low income can join the EXPLO through ARIZONA@WORK powered by Eckerd Connects in Coconino County.

PLUS: Each participant is partnered with a career coach who connects them to supportive services to remove barriers and stays engaged for an entire year—providing wraparound career development support to help launch onto a career path.

Recap of Notable Events & Highlights

Resource Fair in Fredonia


ARIZONA@WORK Coconino County Title IB and Title III service providers—Eckerd and the Department of Economic Security—joined other community partners at the Community Outreach event in Fredonia, AZ on November 15. It was a great opportunity to connect with local residents and U.S. veterans, providing valuable services such as job search assistance, résumé support, and career coaching in this unique small town in Coconino County.

Success Story

Career Success: From Experience to New Opportunities


Sarana came to ARIZONA@WORK underemployed and looking for a fresh start. With prior dental office experience, she decided to pursue a career as a Dental Assistant. With guidance from her career coach, she built confidence, showcased her skills, and excelled at the Dental Assisting School of Arizona, where instructors called her a “star student” and peer mentor. Sarana graduated on time and is now completing onboarding for her new position—an inspiring example of determination and career growth!


Program Highlights

Celebrating Big Wins in Coconino County Adult Education


We’re celebrating a remarkable month of achievement in Coconino County’s Adult Education programs! In just the first half of the month, six dedicated students—seven including Civics—stepped up to take their GED exams. Together, they passed an impressive 12 tests!


Congratulations to our hardworking learners for their commitment and perseverance. And a heartfelt thank-you to our partners across Coconino County for supporting adult learners as they reach these incredible milestones.

Northern Arizona Good Jobs Network / Coconino County Workforce Collaboration


Coconino County Workforce Development is partnering with the Northern Arizona Good Jobs Network (NAGJN) to strengthen local career pathways and support regional employers. By working closely with businesses and education partners, we are expanding opportunities that connect unemployed and underemployed individuals to high-wage, high-demand, and high-skill jobs.


The program is now entering Phase III, and we can’t wait to bring even more resources to our community. These efforts aim to build a more resilient workforce, leverage our in-demand industries, and help our community thrive through sustainable, long-term employment.


Coconino County Workforce Development Board Elects New Officers


The Coconino County Workforce Development Board held its officer elections during the last regular board meeting on November 13, 2025. The new slate of officers brings together strong, experienced business representatives from the community:


  • Shannon Shoots, Project Coordinator at CORE Construction, elected Chair
  • Beth Caplan, Business Owner at Performance Staffing, elected Vice-Chair
  • Jason Jones, Owner of Tech Genie, elected Secretary


This leadership team is well-positioned to guide the board in supporting workforce development initiatives throughout Coconino County.
