47th Regular 2025 District Convention | Day 3 Recap

Resources shared throughout the convention, recordings of events, and official proceedings are available on the District Website, more will be added as they are ready for publishing

Opening Devotion

Vicar Alex Allsing, reminded us that "That's Ministry," even when it's ugly. With a tender and powerful story reflecting on his experience in North St. Louis, Vicar Allsing proclaimed boldly that "Picking up the cross and following Jesus" is the willingness to say that's ministry when we encounter ugly moments because God saw the ugliest of ugly on the cross. He reminded us that ministry is our ability, through the redemptive work of Jesus, to tread any ugly water because Jesus encountered it all so we don't ever encounter it alone.

Vicar Allsing is serving his vicarage at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Houston, Texas as part of his pastoral studies through Concordia Seminary St. Louis. Vicar Allsing is "PSD for the PSD," having grown up in our Lutheran churches and schools and graduating from Concordia University Irvine

Redeemed to Tell - Stories of God @ Work

Mr. Steve Schedler, PSD DCE Liason, facilitated the sharing of stories of collaboration and partnership in youth ministry. The Convention heard from DCE Jim Meyer and Vicar Adam Dougherty about YouthX, a growing, grassroots one-day Jr. High Retreat in Orange County. DCE Noel Fairchild shared how small churches in Southern California have joined forces to bring a winter retreat together that fosters community and togetherness and reminds youth that they're not the only Lutherans! The Convention also got to see the recap of AZ JH Camp and be inspired by the impact collaboration and shared resources can have on youth ministry.

Resolutions

25.01.06 A Triennial Mission & Ministry Emphasis on the Clear Proclaimation of Gospel, Unity in Christ, and Multicultural Ministry passed at 95% after brief discussion
