Hi everyone

Since our last email we've been in daily communication with the Forest Service and we've been working on alternate plans with our race team and local experts. But today our Forest Service contact has told us they expect the fire to continue to grow significantly. They are planning to close much more of the race course including the 9737 road and other parts of the alternate course we've been working on. With that news we have decided to cancel all three distances. Even though the fire is not actually on the alternate course it is nearby. With a change in wind direction the race course could be inundated with smoke and in losing the 9737 road we lose a key emergency exit route. Finally, the outlook for the next two weeks does not seem likely that there will be significant positive changes to the situation.

As much as we're sad to do so, out of respect for everyone's safety including the firefighters and other emergency services who are already fighting multiple large fires in the area we think canceling the race is the way to go. Sorry for the bad news.

As runners ourselves we understand the disappointment that comes when your race gets cancelled especially a big race like this one. We really wish we had better news. And we also want to acknowledge the efforts of our volunteers, we deeply appreciate everyone who has put time and energy into supporting these races.

Since we are are unable to offer the races this year all runners will receive a 50% credit that can be used for any of our events and never expires. We'll email again by Monday with more details on how to use your credit once we've got the credits added to everyone's Webscorer accounts.

Thanks for your support and really sorry you won't be able to run the race this year.
