Hello Folks

Bad news, a significant fire was started by lightning yesterday morning on Labor Mountain between the Beverly and Miller Aid Stations on the 100M & 50M courses. It's grown rapidly from 19 acres yesterday to 125 acres today. One fire map shows it already spreading from half a mile away to now being on the race course itself. It is possible that the 100M and 50M races will not be able to happen as originally planned. The 50K could be impacted too as the fire is less than 9 miles as the crow flies away. It's too soon to say but while there's still a chance all three races could happen, it is possible some or all of the races will be cancelled.

We've reached out to the U.S.Forest Service to get more info and to gauge their feelings on the fate of the race. But we haven't heard back from them yet, they're possibly out fighting the fires themselves as staffing is limited and numerous fires started this weekend in Eastern Washington. But even if we heard back from them they would probably say it's too soon to know for sure as the fire just started and there's still two weeks until race day to get it under control. But we're not going to sugar coat it -- things don't look good at the moment.

*IF* we are are unable to offer the 100M & 50M races folks will be able to choose to switch to the 50K, or receive a 50% credit that can be used for any of our events and never expires. Or *IF* we can't offer any of the distances everyone will be issued a 50% credit that can be used for any of our events and never expires. But again it's too soon to know how this will play out. We'll be keeping a close eye on the reports and continuing to reach out to the Forest Service to get their thoughts. We'll email again later this week with another update.

Thanks and we'll be in touch. Fingers crossed!
