Get ready for the marathon!

The Flying Fish swim marathon is Friday, January 31 - Sunday, February 2.

How can you prepare?

  • Check the schedule below and look for an email from your coach -- you'll reply to confirm when you will do your marathon swim.
  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of your swim.
  • Make sure you have one person who can be there the whole time to count your lengths. (You can bring as many people as you like, but you need at least one person to count.)
  • If you can't swim during your designated time(s), we'll find a make-up time for you.
  • Set up a fundraising page, direct sponsors to the Flying Fish marathon site or keep track of sponsors on your own.
  • Most of all, keep coming to practice so you're ready for your swim!

  • Coaches will email their groups within the week. Please respond to confirm your time. (If you see your group on the schedule more than once, it means you have a few options for your swim.)
  • Diamondfish and Goldfish are not listed on this schedule. They will swim during a practice time, not on marathon weekend. Look for more info in group emails.

A parent reflects on the marathon

"Last year was my daughter's first swim marathon. I was pretty worried because she was kind of nervous. But she got in there and she was amazing. She swam way longer than I ever thought she could. She did 87 lengths. That was crazy! And she was excited and happy the whole time."

Katy, parent of a Bluefish

Swimmers reflect on the marathon

"I like raising the money. You can get donations from your friends and family.

This year, I'm looking forward to seeing if I can swim more lengths and beat my old record."

Cam, Bluefish

"My favorite part of the marathon is when you're on your last lap finishing and everybody around the pool cheers you on. It's really nice to see family and friends being there just to watch you swim. It feels good."

Sadie, Bluefish

"I like the marathon because it helps me build more stamina. I like to see how many lengths I can do.

If it's your first time, I would say don't be afraid of it. It's not that bad and the time goes fast. It's very fun!"

Liam, Redfish
