the 2026 Bay-Delta Science Conference!

The 2026 Bay-Delta Science Conference celebrated outstanding contributions to estuary science, including projects that inspire environmental action, student presentations, and the prestigious Brown-Nichols Science Award.

New to this year's conference, the Friends of the San Francisco Estuary presented the Outstanding Environmental Project Awards and Creative Environmental Awards. These awards honor projects that share knowledge, expand the conversation, advance the 2022 Estuary Blueprint goals and objectives, and motivate action to improve the San Francisco Bay and the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. Learn more about the winners of these awards on the Friends of the Estuary awards web page.

Since 2006, the Bay-Delta Science Conference has recognized excellent student oral and poster presentations. Students are judged by their peers on the effectiveness of their presentations. This year’s student competition included 18 oral presentations and 18 posters, and the winners can be found on the student awards web page.

Also awarded during the conference, the Brown-Nichols Science Award recognizes the contributions of a scientist for significant research and active involvement in facilitating the use of science to manage the San Francisco Estuary. You can learn more about this year’s recipient on the Brown-Nichols Science Award web page.
